Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Code Map (“we,” “us,” or “our”), operated by Lonnie Draper doing business as Code Map / Sinister Speed Shop LLC (Arizona), handles information when you visit getcodemap.com or use the DTC strategy tool. Plain English first; California and Arizona readers are welcome to treat this as our CCPA-style notice as well.

Who we are

Code Map is an educational diagnostic strategy site for independent shops and DIY technicians. Publisher contact: lonnie6065@gmail.com. Code Map is separate from Sinister Speed Shop apparel and wraps; this policy covers the getcodemap.com web property and the in-browser DTC tool only.

What the DTC tool does with your data

When you enter a year, make, model, or paste diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs), that input is processed in your browser against static catalog and strategy-pack files we host. We designed the tool so codes and vehicle context are not required to be uploaded to a personal profile, account database, or third-party analytics warehouse just to generate a strategy map. We do not sell personal information. We do not ask for your VIN, name, phone, shop payroll data, or payment card to use the free tool.

If you email us feedback, your email address and message content are used only to reply and improve the product. We keep correspondence as long as needed to resolve your request, then delete or archive it under normal mailbox practice.

Information we may collect automatically

Like most websites, our hosting provider (and any CDN in front of the site) may log standard technical data: IP address, browser type, referring URL, pages requested, and timestamps. Those logs exist for security, abuse prevention, and uptime. We do not use them to build marketing profiles of individual techs.

Cookies, local storage, and Google AdSense

getcodemap.com uses Google AdSense to show advertising. Google and its partners may use cookies or similar technologies to serve ads based on prior visits to this site or other sites. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user’s prior visits. Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on visits to this and other sites on the Internet.

You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings or the industry opt-out at aboutads.info/choices. Users in the EEA/UK may see consent prompts where required by law. AdSense may set cookies such as those used for frequency capping and fraud prevention even when ads are not personalized.

Our own pages may use browser localStorage only for lightweight UI preferences (for example, remembering a recent demo selection). That storage stays on your device unless you clear site data.

California / Arizona note

We do not sell personal information as that term is commonly understood under the CCPA/CPRA. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. Arizona residents may contact us at the email below with privacy questions; we will respond within a reasonable time. If you believe an ad partner has collected data about you via this site, use the opt-out links above or contact us and we will point you to the right controls.

Third-party links and OEM data

Strategy packs and catalog definitions are educational. Always verify procedures against OEM service information and TSBs for the VIN. Links to third-party sites (if any) have their own privacy practices; we are not responsible for those sites.

Changes

We may update this policy when the product, hosting, or advertising setup changes. The “last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the site after an update means you accept the revised policy.
